Concept Notes: Foundations and Classical Theory
Fourteen explanatory notes on meaning, organisations, scientific management and administrative management, with practice questions.
These notes explain the syllabus topics covered here. They begin with the meaning and scope of Public Administration, then explain how organisational relationships and classical theories address the problem of coordinated public action. The aim is to understand the ideas well enough to compare, apply and criticise them.
Each thinker is introduced in context. Tables compare concepts, diagrams show relationships, and original administrative examples explain how an idea operates. The questions are original learning questions, not attributed UPSC previous-year questions.
This is not the complete Introduction unit or complete notes on Administrative Thought or Organisations. Wilson receives a focused supplementary explainer; NPA, Public Choice, NPM and good governance receive an orientation. Full treatments of those approaches, Weber, human relations, participative management, systems, contingency, regulatory authorities and PPP require further modules.
